Am I experiencing an issue with my motherboard (Z170a) ?

I've had this PC for six months now with no issues.

GTX 970
6700k CPU
ASUS Z170a
16GB RAM
600w PSU
Windows 7

The first problem happened yesterday. I had a game crash to the desktop with no error message. Happened twice and then I decided to look up the problem on Google. This is when I noticed Google Chrome was completely glitched. Whenever I moved my cursor around, random black squares would appear and disappear all over the browser window until it eventually crashed. Pic below (also notice the 2nd pic where the clock picture is pixelated when it shouldn't be):

A re-installation of Chrome did not fix the problem. So I downloaded Firefox. While being much more stable there were still graphical artifacts appearing across the screen. However, there seems to be no issue with Internet Explorer.

In addition to that, my Steam games were no longer working. There was both graphical and audio distortion. However, my Blizzard games did not feature these issues.

My troubleshooting included:

Browser re-installations
Removing GPU and plugging directly into the on-board video (problems persisted)
Ran diagnostic tests on SSD and RAM
Did a clean install of the OS (Windows 7). (Problem still present)

I feel like the only thing left that may be an issue would be the motherboard. At first I thought it could be driver related. I was installing them one at a time but the problem was always there. Did a system restore back to the fresh install of the OS, did nothing but download Chrome and the issue was still there. However, it's not completely consistent. I can close the browser, do other things and come back to it and it will work. But if I close the browser or even do a restart on my computer, it will come back the next time I open it.

Am I correct in ruling out the other components? Are there any other diagnostic tests I can do? Can this be a symptom of a faulty motherboard?

600watt Corsair CX600 V2 80

Is this really the case for all 600w units? Is there a reason why those are all bad? And would this explain the problem I'm having?

The fact that the problem exists, even with the GPU removed, would leave me to believe it is the power supply. When I said unit, I was referring to the PSU itself. I don't know of any quality 600w, and that isn't one. The capacitors used, in that PSU are of poor quality. The new CX650M would be a far better PSU, or any tier 1 or 2 unit, 500w+. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

Turned out it was the CPU. I replaced that and it fixed the issue. Never thought an issue like that would be CPU related. I must have some really bad luck because CPUs very rarely fail.
