Okay so I just built a new PC and got windows 7 on it and it ran fine, until I tried to upgrade it to service pack 1 which resulted in a Bluescreen. I tried again and same thing, it has randomly been bluescreening whenever I have started my computer and it's happening at random times.

I researched a bit and found out about running a memtest, which I did.

Not even the first pass has completed but on test 6 it had 46 errors and on test 7 it had 1 error. I've never used memtest before so I don't know what the errors represent.

I'm not entirely sure how to tell if the error is my ram or cpu or whatnot and what part needs replacing.

If someone could help me out that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like you have a bad stick of RAM. Or it isn't seated completely. Remove any other RAM sticks and run memtest on each stick individually to fine which one is bad.

Any errors at all means the stick is defective. And be sure the locking levers are firmly in the stick's notches.
