Hi guys,

Hopefully this will be my last thread in regards to opinions on a new PC!

I've managed to find two I'm interested in (links below). Have being ripped off by Harvey Norman in the past so am seeking advice prior to purchasing a new PC.

I'm wanting a PC to run most steam games eg Witcher/gta/battlefield etc.
1080p 60hz, however plan to upgrade in the future.

I'm not interested in building a PC and am willing to pay the extra to have a pre built machine.

Two I've picked:

https://www.scorptec.com.au/systems/scorptec/25/325

Any and all opinions greatly appreciated!

There's absolutely no question that the PCCG build is the better of those two options, but a country mile.

7700K vs 6600K
1080 vs 1070
250GB NVMe SSD & 2TB HDD vs 500GB Sata SSD (which will fill up quickly with a few games).

If you think the Scorptec build is enough for you, you can get similar performance out of this lower tiered PCCG build for many hundreds of dollars less: https://www.pccasegear.com/products/37728/pccg-titanium-1070-gaming-system

If you've got the money though, the PCCG build you linked is a fantastic gaming PC.

What monitor have you got in mind? All of the builds above are complete overkill until you upgrade your monitor. This $1200 PCCG system would probably handle anything you could throw at it on a 1080P @...

So until you upgrade the monitor, that extra money is not going to give you any tangible benefit.

A higher resolution is definitely on the cards most likely 1440p 144hz and will hopefully be dual monitors.
I don't want to buy a PC then have to upgrade in the next year or so.
Thank you all for your opinions and suggestions!!

I've decided I will be going with the PCCG 1080 PC. I understand with my current display setup the PC will operate with its eyes closed. However, I am looking to upgrade in the future and don't see the need to buy a cheaper PC and then upgrade that also later on.

I've noticed they have a model with GPU ASUS ROG GeForce GTX 1080 Strix Aura 8GB which is $200 more expensive than the one I was looking at which has ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 Turbo 8GB.

Is it worth while getting the more expensive PC with I'm guessing greater GPU?

The differences between different 1080 GPUs is very subtle, and in no way worth $200. The one in your linked build is a blower cooler, which will run a little hotter and louder. So if you want to go all out, that's up to you. But the performance is going to be extremely close.

If you really didn't want a blower card, I'd be asking them whether they'd be prepared to put the system together with the Gigabyte G1 Gaming 1080 in it instead: https://www.pccasegear.com/category/193_1828/graphics-cards/geforce-gtx-1080
On their component site, that's only $70 more than the 1080 in the build. Hopefully they'd upgrade you to that for around the $70 mark. You could ask. In your shoes if I was paying ~$2500AU for a high end build, I would actually pay the extra $70 for a decent aftermarket 1080 over that cheaper Asus Blower. $70 yes, but $200, that's ridiculous in my book. Either will perform great though.

It's a great fit for 1440P 144hz monitor.

Just as a BTW, don't bother getting two "gaming" monitors. While some people game across 3 screens, 2 just doesn't work for 95% of games because you have a great bezel in the middle of your display. So if you're only gaming on one screen, there's no point have a 2nd high end 144hz gaming monitor sitting there displaying the desktop. You'd be paying hundreds of dollars for a smoother mouse pointer. Instead, I'd suggest pouring the majority of your budget into one good gaming display, and even just keeping your current 1080P display for the second monitor, or if you really want dual 1440P, at least getting a cheaper 1440P display for the second screen.

You're going to have a super nice rig there. Have fun.
