Hey guys,

Ive recently put together a new pc with the following specs:

i7 7700K @ 4.8ghz (using the auto overclock)
MSI Z270 Gaming M5
Corsair H110i w/ stock fans mounted on the front of the case
Arctic silver MX-4 paste
Gigabyte G1 gtx 1070
Corsair 460x case
Corsair 750RM PSU

It idles at around the 45C mark, with a room temp of around 25c. Stress tests result in themops around the high 80s low 90s, with fans on quiet and pump on performance. Ive looked into people with i7 6700k and many of them are getting lower temps at a similar overclock. Ive made sure thermal paste was applied correctly. Is my equipment bust, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

I also have a 7700k it runs hot, you can't run auto overclock on it seems like most of the z270 boards * mine is a aurao gigabyte k7* overvolt. I'm using a 280 rad 61x kraken and still way to hot if you let the board set volts even at stock clocks. I've settled on a 4.2 GHz for now undervolting to 1.08v I can run doom for hours even with my 1080 overclockd without it getting over 65c I've ordered some new paste from Newegg going to try to reseat mine and hope I can get like 5c lower out of it. But I might not and the deference in fps is like 3-5 fps between 4.2 and 4.8 don't burn your chip up because you have it set in your head what oc you want your chip will only do what it will do Intel does not guarantee o.c speeds. Take your time...

Take your time find the best manual o.c with stable temps for your system, I've been working on it for days and I still have more testing to do hoping with new paste I might get it up to a stable 4.5 with good temps seems like my chip really hates voltage lol. Happy hunting.
