Hi,
I have :
Fios TV
Fios internet

I recently purchased google wifi. I would like to use a modem+google wifi.
How can I go about this?.... would buying something like this accomplish it?
Actiontec MoCA 2.0 Ethernet to Coax Adapter

Link to amazon if you want to see it.

Very hard for me to make out the details especially on the first two pics - blurry.

Are the blue cables ethernet cables going to room wall jacks? The yellow cable appears to be an ethernet cable (568B) - not sure. In any case, the wiring panel is well below acceptable standards and should be redone. Go online and google words such as "ethernet punchdowns", "how to install ethernet cable", "ethernet wall ports", etc.. You will have continual problems once connectivity is established (if at all possible) with the current wiring conditions. Did the Verizon techs pull and punchdown the ethernet cables?

Is this your modem/router?

You should not need a coax to ethernet adapter.....

As I understand the Google Wifi installation you just physically plug the "wifi point" into your modem via an ethernet cable.

Example reference:

(Watch around the 2 minute mark....) There are other similar videos.

Does your modem have an ethernet port?

What make and model is your modem? Or modem/router? Or make and models for the modem and router if separate.

Need to see the bigger picture especially if there are other wired and wireless devices involved.

Simplest setup would be something like ISP (Verizon) ------- > Modem > ------ethernet cable -----> Goggle Wifi ~~~~~~~> wireless devices.

You will need to get an ethernet cable run from the FIOS ONT (same place the coax goes). They you will have an ethernet rather than a coax for your internet. Without using a FIOS router, you may not be able to use video-on-demand or the on-screen guide may be out-of-date.

I have the fios verizon gateway quantum g1100. It is a modem/router.
I have 2 desktop computers directly connected to it, one for personal use, the other for blue iris( security cameras, only 4 of them, if that matters)

I have installed google wifi , by simply connecting it into my modem/router, however I have issues with it creating a 2nd network and I cannot see my surveillance cameras because of that issue.

I would like to use any modem that will do the job + google wifi.

Originally when I moved into my house and ordered fios, I was able to use the internet without a router. The whole house was wired with ethernet.
However, when I ordered their whole package , tv/internet/phone ( I dont use the phone, but it came out cheaper like that..weird i know) They changed some stuff around ( im a novice, but I can learn if pointed to the right direction). And it made it so that my ethernet ports around the house were inactive.

I will try and add pics shortly of what they did on my panel.

Here is a link regarding the ONT connection. However, I am not sure about the options you may have per se.

However, either way a connection (coax or ethernet) from the ONT to the modem/router is needed. Via the coax connection or the white WAN port if I am following it all correctly.

You would plug in the two desktops and the Google Wifi using three of the yellow ports on the modem/router.

All of the devices on your network will look to the modem/router to obtain a DHCP IP address. Whether that modem/router is yours or Verizon's.

For now, I suggest that you stay with Verizon's modem/router until you really have everything up and fully running. Otherwise any problems will be blamed on your device(s) and/or infrastructure.

First get your desktop PC's up and running via the g1100. Then focus on adding in the Google Wifi. The overall concern is getting the IP addresses all as they should be. Especially if you want the Google Wifi to be a separate network. Not sure about the defaults therein but I will look for the user guides and manuals.

See if you can put together a simple sketched diagram of the wiring to and from the panel shown in the photographs. That will help keep everything clear. May take some effort to get it all "untangled".
