I have Windows 8.1 installed on an SSD Kingston UV400 120GB, motherboard Gigabyte GA-990X Gaming SLI. Everything was awesome untill I shut down my PC last night. At the morning it wouldn't boot from SSD, it would give me post screen, then Windows Logo with loading circle and it would basicly shut down immediatly. I tought it was because of compability issues of 3gb sata port with 6gb sata port, but in MB's manual all 6gb sata ports are backwards compatible with 3gb and 1.5gb sata and on the SSD it says that it uses the 6gb sata port so that's not an issue.
Also I tried pluging HDD in it and it works, it boots into the system, so I figured out it's an SSD related issue, maybe some BIOS feature is preventing it from booting. Tried pluging SSD in other PC, older than mine, same issue there, it shuts down after post screen.

In the bios on the exit and save page I have Boot overread and basicly my SSD is the last when I have USB in or something. Also I don't have prefix UEFI on SSD, I have prefix PO:Kingston UV400. I tried formating with DBAN and installing windows 10 to see if it's gonna get it fixed, I'm also gonna try entering the boot menu but not from the BIOS, on the post screen, I'm currently installing. If someone knows why this is happening please help!

Greetings!

My first thought is that there is actually something wrong with the SSD. Seeing as it had the same problem in a different system. How old is the SSD? I had a Samsung 850 Evo do a similar think to me. It worked awesome for several days, and then just tanked. When that happened, I was having the same symptoms you are describing. So, there is a good possibility that the SSD has simply failed.

Hope this helps!

Actually wiping whole SSD with DBAN and installing Windows 10 solved the issue so I'm guessing maybe some drivers failed or something similar. If the problem occurs once again I will contact the store, since it's not older than 3 months, the whole pc is brand new, dont see a reason for a part to fail though, maybe Im just unlucky getting a malfunctioned one

Good to hear that maybe that was all it was! My SSD tanked out after 4 days of flawless operation and it was brand new as well. Sometimes electronic parts just fail or even arrive DOA. It is a reality of the industry and the reason most companies offer RMA options:) I hope your SSD functions without hassle for years to come!

Scared the sh#t out of me though, was thinking can it be possible that new parts already died or failed. Glad the problem is gone now. Thanks though, I too hope it'll serve me well! Cheers! :)
