MSI does make good boards. It also depends on what you are doing with it. Honestly, I'm a Gigabyte fan. So the Gaming 5 or Gaming 7 would be your best bet. That's just me. I do hear MSI makes good boards, though. Read the reviews for users who had for a while.

Msi make an awesome board! I was a huge fan of Asus boards back in the 90's as they were known for their build quality and reliability. In the early 2000's the reliability started to dwindle and our RMA increased substancially with boards not posting. I then started to bring in the equivalent MSI high end gaming boards to deal with the issues i was having with Asus. I found the MSI boards to be both of high quality components and extremely reliable. I have both Asus and MSI motherboards that have lasted 10 years plus! The other positive for MSI is that they support their motherboards longer than Asus which is a plus.

I have purchased my parts for my next computer build with the exception of the mother board which will take place within the week. There is no question that after reviewing the Z270 boards that i will go with MSI due to the quality of components and the longer support they offer over the other manufacturers. The Asus boards would definately be my second choice over MSI without hesitation on these higher end gaming boards.

As mentioned The MSI Z270 M5 or M7 are the two boards to be looking at with most people choosing the M5. You can't go wrong with either.
