So this is the first time I'm buying used computer components and I found a 980 ti strix going for $350 on ebay so I decided to buy it. The seller has the card listed as “I got this beauty in a liquidation lot! Looks new to me!" Should I be fine? The guy has a good amount of positive reviews and sells a lot but he's also got some negative and neutral reviews as well. Here's a link to the listing http://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-STRIX-980Ti-STRIX-GTX980TI-DC3OC-6GD5-GAMING-6GB-384-Bit-Video-Card-/232198524542?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=EX8XXNri1AMp0XyMq71VjOIF6mM%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

I've bought cards off of ebay before, no problem. Yeah just look for people that have decent review history, provide original pictures and preferably say they've just taken it out of a working system so you have it it writing that the card is in working condition for any potential insurance claim if it doesn't work on your end.

I'm sorry, but this listing has ended.

I never buy anything that says it comes from a liquidation lot. Those eBay sellers often dont know anything about the items they are selling, as is the case with this listing. You could get lucky and the card may work fine, but you could also be unlucky and end up with a $350 paper weight.

For future references, I would never trust eBay. They can have 99% feedback, but if it is used, no telling what is in the inside. He probably got it $150 in that auction. My opinion? Save and get a 1080 if you truly want it. But if you don't even have the monitor, and don't plan on it, stick with the 1070.

So what is the question? You've already purchased it. Our opinions at this point are moot. For $380 I would have purchased a brand new 1070 that would be more powerful and it would be brand spanking new. Bad move imo. Will you be fine? Idk.

im genuinely curious why you didnt just get a brand new gtx 1070 instead?

no one can tell you if it's legit or not, but the seller has99.7% positive feedback on 26,000 some-odd transactions so that's a good sign at least

Yeah, I agree. That listing was too shady for my taste and I bought it too impulsively. I already returned it luckily
