Is this a good processor for gaming?

Solution
I would suggest Intel or Ryzen. Those CPU's are only good with highly threaded programs. Even then they only at best match an i5.

It is a decent cpu but very old, very power hungry, noisy cooler and the other components are more expensive than intel ones
An i3 6100 can give you around same performance and if you try a bit cheaper..

Solution
i have the FX8320 which is slightly bellow that chip. It runs pretty much all games just fine (except for single core cpu intensive games such as H1Z1 or Arma). That being said it is an aging processor that uses a lot of energy and creates a lot of heat and its on a dead socket type (AM3). Wait a few months for ryzen if you want to support AMD (which is always good), or buy an intel chip.
