Is there any advantage using a GPU to stream video to a TV? Reason I ask is, that I am streaming now with my i3 with 8GB or RAM on my motherboard and there are no glitches or delays at all. My cpu never heats up hours on end, so I am curious as to what, if anything, a GPU can do better in this setup?

Depends on you I3 and GPu and if you need HDMI 2.0 and 4k 60PFS output. for standard 1080p you should be fine without a gpu for waching videos on tv
