When i wake a win 7 from sleep, it goes right into hibernate instead of waking up. Any thoughts?

I am using windows 7 x64. When computer goes to sleep, if i try to wake it with the mouse/keyboard, it then goes into hibernate mode instead of waking. Then i have to wait til it powers down, then power it back up. Not sure why it started doing this.
This was a custom machine, so not hp/dell.
Thanks for any help.
