Hello!

I need to choose between one of those modems. Which would you recommend?

Main thing - has either of them have known security vulnerabilities and were they patched?

I once found a site that allowed to check this, but lost the link - if anyone knows such good site, that would also be appreciated.

The main difference between the 2 seems to be that the 3208 seems to have built in the phone connection that the 3008 does not.

John Fruehe safety tips are excellent for any type of device. The information on known vulnerabilities is the part of the iceberg that can be seen. You should explore the iceberg as much as possible, but do not think you know everything about it at a distance. https://www.vcetests.com/300-070-vce.html

Broadband providers may have access to more information from Cisco, Linksys or Technicolor than the consumer, including firmware updates. My Cisco customer service account did not reveal any download or error list entries, but I do not have any of these modems under contract with Cisco, so I may not see some...

My thinking is that these modems are getting old, and support is questionable at best. Since most large corporate and government networks tend not to use broadband, security vulnerabilities in such devices are not as well documented. There are likely to be more undisclosed vulnerabilities in consumer class devices than in corporate devices.
