My old hard drive has died. If I install a new, raw drive will it be able to initialize, format from the old drive?

No, you will be able to do that from the windows install media you have or, preferred, is to let windows handle all that for you.

Popatim: Thank you for your response. So, if I understand you correctly,I can remove the old drive, install the new, raw drive and turn the switch on and then ...what? Will the raw drive present a query? Will it automatically know I need to load the Windows disc? Do appreciate your help sir.
