I only own Rainbow Six Siege and Overwatch right now.

I also have a ASUS STRIX GTX 1060 6GB OC

I mainly play fps and sometimes RPG

do you guys think it's worth it to get an unlocked i5 processor?

Solution
Absolutely it is NOT worth the upgrade. Most of the performance of core I5 comes from its 4 cores. The Return on Investment for a 7600K would be horrible.

PC components depreciate in value faster than automobiles. When you buy components you should plan to make them last for 4 years or more. To do otherwise is costly.

What limitation are you facing right now? That CPU / GPU combo should be really good for 1080P gaming.

I don't have any limitations now.

I just really like to explore cpu overclocking.

I have an MSI B150M Mortar Arctic motherboard

I'm planning to get the 7600k + ASUS Strix Z270G

I bought my

Core i5 - 6400 on sale last year for $156
someone wants to buy it for $150

and my
MSI B150M Mortar Arctic for $98 from the shop
someone wants to buy it for $80

is this a fair deal?

I used an Asus Sandy Bridge i5 laptop with 8 gigs of ram since 2011 and just last week bought a new computer (not for gaming) with a Skylake i7 in desktop form and to be honest there is no real performance boost that i notice .

When people say Intel has not done a whole lot in regard to major advancements in performance they mean it .

Upgrade the GPU and ram if you want to see real differences .
