i got a brand new CPU this Christmas and it seems to be overheating? it is the FX 8350 and i have the hyper 212 evo heat sink which is also 2 weeks old.

not overclocking and did not up the voltage 1 bit

i reapplied the thermal paste a second time after seeing these high temp reads and it hasnt changed.

i have the corsair carbide 500r case and have enough airflow that the cpu stays around 30c idle. i also have the msi rx 480 x which isnt overheating... the game i was playing was paladins on low settings ( they were on high but i cranked them down after seeing the high reads)

help? i dont want my new cpu to fry :sarcastic:

Edit*** help, its still reading 78c even after i let the cpu fan at 100%. I have exhuast fans as well. Under load my gpu is reading at 50c so its clearly not my case. I need help asap

70 C under load isn't so bad. I get about 50-60 writing this and about 70 when gaming. It's normal. You should only be alarmed if you go over 85 C under load.

I was having a similar problem with my Hyper 612 Ver.2, take note that temps read at under 20 minutes since boot time aren't accurate. Give your PC a good 10-30 minutes before reading the temps for your CPU, as at boot time it can reach it's highest temperature (with the exception of under load) Some reach 80C at boot and 30C idle. It all depends on your background processes and start up applications. Also, can I ask, how did you unlock the CPU fan to 100%?
