I built my PC with advice from here almost three years ago on a budget (~$900) and want to upgrade some things starting now to keep it from going too out-of-date.

Here's what I have now:

  • Mobo: MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 (MS-7721)
CPU: AMD Athlon X4 760K Quad Core Processor (3.8 GHz)
Video Card: AMD Radeon R9 200 Series (2GB)
    RAM: 8GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 839MHz (using 2 of 4 slots)
    OS: Win 8.1, 64-bit
    PSU: CORSAIR CX500 500W

I'm not sure what I can best accomplish with a $300-$400 budget. I'm guessing a graphics card is the best upgrade I can do, but am not sure. (And also not sure if my current PSU is enough to handle things like that). Budget isn't set in stone, but I don't want to spend a lot more than that.

I play lots of games on it, but am not a sticker for best-in-class performance (obviously), but my Steam backlog is so big I'm often a year or two behind games by the time I get to them.

Thanks! :D

Heyo byss66

I'd probably go for a Motherboard, CPU and RAM upgrade.
I guess you have something like a 270x maybe(?), and that card should probably be enough for now.
So maybe something like a i5 6500, MSI H170 Gaming M3 and a pair of Corsair vengenace LPX 8gb sticks (16gb in total)

Good luck finding the right upgrade! :)
