Hey there, about two weeks ago i bought a WD My Passport Ultra 2tb external hard disk drive and unfortunately I couldn't get it to work so over the last weeks i have tried to fix the issue. when I first plugged it in I tried copying a few GB of data over to the drive when i got the error: there is not enough free space on this drive or something similar which i thought was very strange at the moment as it was a brand new hard drive without a single file in it. the first thing I did was check if there was any visible flaws on the device or USB cable (which there was not). the day after this I tried formatting the drive which gave me the error that the drive was not detected so I reconnected the device which allowed me to format the drive through AOMEI partition assistant so I started by formatting the drive to FAT32 which still didn't allow me to move any significant amount of data over to the drive without me getting some kind of error or my computer just not recognizing the drive at all. After this I decided to reformat the drive to ExFAT which seemed to have the exact same problem so I reformatted to NTFS and I got the same error or issue. I tried creating multiple smaller partitions and got the same issue. At this point i grew tired of this so i searched for the problem but everyone else with similar issues seemed to have some kind of audible clue from the hard drive which I do not have. So after going through everything I could think of including testing the device on another computer and getting the same or at least a very similar error/issue on there i have decided to ask you here on tomshardware. I appreciate you taking the time to read through and I appreciate any responses i might get.

of course, before I downloaded AOMEI partition assistant I went to disk management to try to reformat the drive, this however did not work
