Just got this graphics card NVIDIA geforce 8400 gs 512mb ddr3
I have a HP compaq 8000
Intel core 2 duo CPU E7500 @ 2.93 GHz
4GB RAM
and 64 bit for some reason

However the issue is as soon as I turn it on with the graphics card inserted, there is no display whatsoever,
I can hear the PC start up and do it's stuff though
I have tried all possible ports to get an image, the VGA port on the new graphics card doesn't say no display, like the other two, but just shows a blank screen,
I assumed because I don't have the drivers, however I can't install the drivers unless the graphics card is inserted
Am I missing something?
Any advice is appreciated

Thankyou for your reply
I have both on the monitor and on the GPU, neither work, neither does the inbuilt VGA port when the card is inserted

Thankyou again, and sorry for whats about to come but...

It doesn't have to have intergrated graphics? but it does have them like that now?
How would I go about turning it off?
I saw a tuturial that said to boot in safe mode with card attached, disable the intel(r) graphics, and then reboot
But I can't see to do this when the graphics card is inserted

Should I disable the intel (R), then shut down, insert the card and turn back on?

What if that doesn't work? will I be left with no visuals and no way to get the intel (r) enabled?

What?? It wont install, that's part of the problem

I have the drivers for NVIDIA 8400GS but they wont install without the card being inserted in the motherboard

When the card is in the motherboard, I get no display and can't get to the driver setup to install them

The card has 100% been in the slot correctly

I'm the using the PC without the card inserted, to write this message, so the fault isn't with the base PC

I need what you're saying in simple talk,
I really don't get what you're driving at here

The CPU / processor if youre trying to use onboard video may have to have integrated graphics (which is built into the CPU) to use the onboard video ports. It doesnt have integrated graphics

. Remove the video card you installed then put it in back in. MAKE SURE it's in properly

Don't mean to be rude here, but I feel like i'm going round in circles

there is no card installed, and never has been

I am using the onboard graphics at the minute
I want better graphics, but when I put in the card, I get no display
I can't install the new card, or the drivers for the new card, without a display
I have been at this for hours now, when I say i'm %100 sure it's in properly, I mean it
it gets hot, the monitor recognizes there is a signal on the other side of the VGA cable for maybe 10 seconds
but the screen is just black,
whether i connect the vga through the built in vga port, or the port on the graphics card, it makes no difference

I can't install it.......
the wizard thing that comes up when trying to install the device software tells me the card needs to be in the motherboard for it to work

If I start my PC up with the card inserted I just get a blank screen,

by installed do you mean simply put into the motherboard?
