Hello fellow internetters,

I'm really struggling to find a new good CPU for my PC.
I'm not really looking for a high end gaming machine. I am a low/mid range gamer and mid range video editor/creator.

My current setup:
A6-6400K (dual-core, no good for neither light gaming nor editing, it takes forever to render)
Asrock A88X PRO+ (FM2 and FM2+ suitable)
GTX 750ti
lc600h-12 v2.31 600w peak power power-supply (I can't find the continues power/wattage anywhere?!)
8GB DDR3 RAM
1TB HDD

I have been looking for some cpu's, and the FX series apu's sound really good for video encoding/editing, but they're really old. And then I need to upgrade to very expensive mobo (its around €100), while mine right now is good to get the job done (isn't it? :p).
An i3-6100 Skylake also looks quite good, but then I need to upgrade to DDR4.

What would you guys recommend for me?

Thank you for your time in advanced!

Kind regards,
Bas (Holland)

Oh boy, I have only seen two Asus motherboards with exact same specs except for DDR type, I wonder why they designed them then, I'm not really sure about it but question arises here why would they even make those motherboards.

I think you should be able to fit a 6100, motherboard, ssd (120) and a single 8GB DDR4 (more faster) in 250 usd.

I am not really sure, because I don't know what I can get for how much money. But my maximum is around 250, because I want a SSD too.
thanks for quick reply!

I was really confused by that too!
But that would be best suitable for me? also for my rendering?

6100 is quite powerful, compare it with your current processor, check some benchmarks to see what you are going to get, it'll make full use of the 750ti, for ram 1600mhz 8GB is enough, you'll get faster than that which might even be more beneficial in game loading times and in some other operations. For rendering, obviously if you buy a superior processor than your current one, speeds are definitely going to improve.

No problem, one thing, I have no idea about AMD motherboards and processors so if your motherboard can have a higher processor you should look into that, might save money but you'll also need a better cooler then. Before you make purchase, think throughly.
