So I built a cheap work computer for a friend using a AMD FX-4300 and Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3. He's asked me if he can run 3 monitors. And I truly have no idea as it says " Multi VGA Output options: D-Sub, DVI-D & HDMI. " However I have asked a colleague at work, and he says it won't run 3 monitors.

Would I be able to buy a dirt cheap GFX card and use the internal HDMI + DVI-D and then the external graphics card aswell?

Per the notes at the bottom, you cannot use the HDMI and DVI at the same time so you will need a graphics card to use 3 monitors: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4305#sp
That board does not seem to support using the onboard graphics along with a graphics card.
So you will need a PCI-E graphics card that supports 3 monitors and has the outputs (HDMI, DVI, etc.) that match the monitors inputs. You will probable end up needing adapters as I doubt you will find a cheap card with 3 of the same outputs.

Didn't even know about that. I just built him a budget system and now he's just said " Oh I want it to run 3 monitors " If I had known this at the beginning when I built him it, I might have paid more attention.

To be honest, as cheap as humanly possible. He's not gaming or anything on it.

I believe a 710 should be sufficient to run 3 monitors shouldn't it?

Thanks for your help BTW.
