so far anything set for windows xp or higher that i have used has supported windows 7, however when looking at the driver downloads available on Gigabytes website the only windows 7 driver listed is for the audio setup. does this mean it wont work efficiently with that OS?

Solution
A Core 2 Quad and a GT 730 will run Windows 7 fine. However, for RAM, if you are running X64 get AT LEAST 4gb of ram (Yes, it will run on 2gb, but it will not run great on 2gb, trust me, I know this!) For X86, 2-4gb is fine. The GT730 should have Windows 7 drivers on the GeForce Website (Nvidia is pretty good about drivers)
Their advertising says it is certified for Windows Vista. Vista is when the device driver framework changed so if it will run with Vista it will run with 7. The drivers are probably in the Win 7 build so you wouldn't need to down load drivers except for the 8 channel audio if you're using it. Just do a regular Win 7 install and it should pick up the correct drivers. I suspect the audio drivers download is an update that was too late to get into Win 7. Check the documentation on their web site for the audio driver.

im currently in the process of setup to be honest. I have an old hp elite sff with the dreaded btx mobo and wanted to get to a point where i can support a bigger gpu and more cooling potential. currently i have a core 2 quad q9500 on the way and will be getting the gigabyte mobo if i win the auction for it. the only downside is id need to downgrade to ddr2 800 ram since my current system runs ddr3 (i will be putting 8gb of that ram into the mobo.) i also have an nvidia gt 730 mid range gpu that will be coming with as well as a seagate 7200 rpm 500gb hdd. still trying to figure out what psu would work/would be best for the entire setup without breaking the bank
