problems connecting my pc to the internet

Hello.

i just built a new pc and im having problems connecting to the internet. i have a wifi extender for my old pc but that had win 7 now i have win 10 and my pc is located all the way across the house from the router but my router is pretty nice and can reach that far across the house i dont have a pcie slot open and i would like to spend 20$ but can go to 30$ thanks

Yes. Only insert the GPUs into their compatible slots, in your case these slots would be the PCIe x16. Some slots may look alike, but do not use them if they do not have the little locking mechanism on the back of them. Here is a handy dandy little picture that compares the different types of slots:
