PC will only start with GPU out

So today when I tried turning on my PC, it wouldn't start. I've started unplugging peripherals 1 by 1. No success. Took out the gpu out of the system, and it would now start but turn off after 1 second. So I've tried taking out 1 stick of ram and it turned out 1 stick was faulty. No big deal, I can live without 1 stick. So I've tried plugging my gpu back in and the computer fans would just turn on, but there'd be no video and no beep (the pc beeps once when I turn it on). So I've unplugged the gpu, and surprise, the PC works fine without it. Do I have a dead GPU?

Solution
Test the GPU in a friend's computer (or another one of yours). If it works, then it's the power supply. If it fails, then it's the GPU.

CPU i5 4460
Motherboard Asus H81i ITX
Ram 16GB Corsair Vengeance (one of the sticks seemed to have died together with the GPU for some reason)
Gpu: Asus Turbo GTX 970
PSU EVGA 500w 80+ Gold PSU (comes with the Hadron Air)
OS: Windows 10 64 bit

Well, I see three possibilities here.

1) Power Supply failure: At some point, your power supply took a hit and is no longer operating as specified ratings.
2) Motherboard failure: Perhaps due to a power surge, the motherboard took a hit and knocked out one of your RAM slots and the PCI-E slot.
3) Both.

There are some other things that may be wrong, but that would be extremely unlikely. First thing I'd do is get the power supply tested. Either get a tester for yourself or take the system to the shop to be tested. If it fails and it's still under warranty, send it back to EVGA.

I've already swapped the ram into the other slot. Both slots work perfectly. I've also put an old network adapter in my PCIE slot. It works as well. Only thing I haven't tested is my PSU. But since the system is working perfectly fine I don't think there's a problem. Plus, I've been having a lot of stuttering and crashes which are gpu related lately.

Edit: Could you recommend me a power supply tester? Don't really trust repair shops in my area.
