Hello,

Problem:
I've purchased a GTX 1070 - MSI Gaming X 8gb edition, but it's not being recognized by my motherboard. Instead, it recognizes the integrated graphics on my motherboard.

The GPU lights up, but the fans aren't powered. Also, the HDMI cable is plugged into my GPU, and I'm able to boot, use and *see* Windows just fine. I can't game or do anything graphics intensive, though.

Edit: When I have the GTX 1070 installed, I can't use my monitor's speakers. I can use my headphones.

What I've tried:
I know the PCI-E express slot is okay since it works with my GTX 680. I looked at other threads and went into my BIOS to change the display to PCI-E, but that hasn't changed anything.

Here's my system:

Motherboard: ASUS Z77-V-Pro
CPU: Intel i5 3570k
GPU: GTX 1070 (not recognized)
Power Supply: Corsair HX 750

Thoughts?

Solution
Sounds like a driver issue. If you have your monitor plugged into the card and your able to get into your system then something is obviously working.

The GTX 1070 fans do not spin up until the card reaches a certain temperature, so it's not surprising that you don't see them spinning.

I would recommend uninstalling any current video drivers using display driver uninstaller (quick google search should find it) and then install the most up to date drivers from nvidia.com
First - Are you SURE you plugged your monitor into the dedicated graphics card and not the motherboard?
Second - Did you plug in the additional power supply pci-e power connectors needed to power your graphics card?
Third - If you didn't install the graphics drivers for the GTX 1070, device management isn't going know what device is plugged into the pci-e slot. Did you install NVidia drivers for the graphics card?

Using DDU and manually installing drivers from Nvidia's website worked. Thanks!
