Hi , i have a verizon fios 2-1 modem/router and my question is this.
the coax wire that is connected to modem has a 3-1 where 1 is connected to modem, 2 is connected to tv receiver. 3rd was also connected to the tv receiver. if i were to attach the coax to ethernet adaptor and connect the ethernet cable to my PC would it work?

( | = 3-way connection)
[modem]----1----|--------coax cable outside
[receiver]----2---|
[receiver]----3---|

replace 3 with an ethernet adaptor so i can connect to pc.
would it work?
Thanks for ur help!

OK....assuming Verizon FiOS
and assuming the house is wired with a lot of coax
and assuming there is a coax where you want this new WiFi signal to propagate from....

Yes, a MOCA device will work.
I use one for an ethernet signal upstairs.

Where you want this new WiFI signal, attach a 2-1 coax splitter.
1 leg goes to the TV STB in that room, the other end goes to a moca device.
That moca device outputs a regular ethernet signal, that can be used by an Access point or a WiFi router turned into an access point.

I have one of these...

No, that doesn't work.
(I also have FiOS)

What situation are you trying to solve?

There may be a way to get to where you want, but I'd need more info before recommending a solution.

No, you can't hook the xfinity up to the coax and expect something to come out of it.

So....what exactly are you trying to solve.
Disregard 'parts', and other modems, etc.

What is the actual situation?

I have one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/Actiontec-Ethernet-Adapter-Service-ECB2500C/dp/B008C1JC4O

coax into that, ethernet out.
My FiOS installer guy gave it to me for free.
