Hi bullzeye82.

There is an old saying, if nothing is wrong as it is and it works.
Then don`t try to fix it.

You should only ever apply a bios firmware update for any hardware device that may require one if the hardware is not working as it should be.

The same apply`s to pc motherboards unless it is stated that the new bios firmware adds new features.

Most bios flashing tools provide you with the facility to back up the old bios firmware in case the new update makes the hardware operate or perform much worse than before.

So if you are given that option you should always create a backup first of all.

Apart from that advice, you will have to look on the drive it`s self to see what Year/Month/ and the date the drive was made, where...

Apart from that advice, you will have to look on the drive it`s self to see what Year/Month/ and the date the drive was made, where it will or should tell you what bios firmware revision was used with your drive.
It`s then a case of trying to find the firmware version then re flash the drive again to get the drive to work and perform as it did.
