I'm fairly tech savvy and have decided to build my 2nd gaming rig. This isn't the second computer I've ever built, but it is the second computer I've ever built for myself. Here are my specs:
Mobo: ASRock Z170 Fatal1ty Gaming K6 (LGA 1151)
CPU: Intel i7 7700k
PSU: EVGA 750W
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 (4x4GB) Model: CMK16GX4M4B3000C15***
Graphics: 2x EVGA GeForce GTX 1070SC (8GB DDR5 VRAM) SLI'd
Cooling: Corsair H50 water cooler
A DVD RW drive
And (currently) just a 1TB HDD
Now, to make a long story short, I was being naive with PCPartPicker (trusting their compatibility filters a little too much) and bought incompatible RAM without doing my own research on the MFG's website (rookie mistake). Understandably so, my computer is throwing error codes " on startup, and then power cycling. The ONLY error code to pop up is 19, which in the Dr. Debug (mobo manual) states, "Problem related to memory. Please reinstall the CPU and memory then clear CMOS. If the problem still exists, please install only one memory module or try using other memory modules." Further research shows this error code is actually just testing the memory. I've got compatible memory on the way (another 4x4GB - and yes, I actually checked the compatibility this time, hahaha), and was wondering if I absolutely need to reinstall the CPU AND clear the CMOS, or can I get away with just clearing the CMOS or even better, just installing the new RAM and then proceeding with the OS?
If I absolutely have to clear the CMOS, how can I do so without a jumper? My mobo did not come with a jumper, and unlike my previous ASROCK, this new one doesn't have a fancy "Clear CMOS" button (that I know of or saw - I was sleep deprived building this thing so I was a bit inattentive to those details).
Side Note: I've got 6 SATA3 ports on this motherboard, and will be using them as such:
A0 - 250GB SSD holding the OS and critical applications (aka games)
A1 - another SSD (still deciding on what I want)
A2 - 1TB HDD
A3 - DVDRW Drive
Any issues with this SATA setup (Or my build in general)? I never really did a lot of research on SATA configurations, so I'm relatively inexperienced with them outside of making sure you start with 0 and go from there.
