hi, i have a windows 7 cd that i bought something like 7 years ago, and im buying a new pc.

gtx1070+i7 7700, the motherboard is Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2PV.

what im asking is, is it possible to install win 7 on my new pc? will it even boot? i read that kabylake cpu's arent compatible with windows 7. i hope someone can help me, otherwise im gonna have to buy windows 10. thanks a lot in advance :).

That motherboard needs a BIOS update to even work with that CPU I would suggest against it unless you have someone with a spare skylake CPU who can update the BIOS for you.

Secondly no Windows 7 will not work with any Kabylake processors. You're going to need to purchase a copy of Windows 10.

i ordered the pc from a store, they said nothing about that. so maybe they will update the bios? i dont know. they did call and tell me other problems that i have with what i ordered, but didnt mention that.. anyway, wont gigabyte's usb drivers work with kabylake? they did work with skylake.

btw, i ordered the GA-H110M-S2PV that supports ddr4 ram, not ddr3

The store is building the PC from you or just sending you the parts? If they are building it they can update the BIOS. However Windows 7 still is not going to work either way. Has nothing to do with the USB drivers.

Some guy in Taiwan is playing games and running benchmarks on Pentium G4560 and Windows 7

Go figure!

TomsHardware could test and write a review on:

1. Kaby Lake + Intel 100 series chipset motherboard + Dedicated Graphics Card + Windows 7
2. Kaby Lake + Intel 100 series chipset motherboard + Intel HD Graphics 630 + Windows 7
3. Kaby Lake + Intel 200 series chipset motherboard + Dedicated Graphics Card + Windows 7
4. Kaby Lake + Intel 200 series chipset motherboard + Intel HD Graphics 630 + Windows 7
5. Kaby Lake + Intel 100 series chipset motherboard + Dedicated Graphics Card + Windows 8.1
6. Kaby Lake + Intel 100 series chipset motherboard + Intel HD Graphics 630 + Windows 8.1
7. Kaby Lake + Intel 200 series chipset motherboard + Dedicated Graphics Card + Windows 8.1
8. Kaby Lake + Intel 200 series chipset motherboard + Intel HD Graphics 630 + Windows 8.1

Use Intel HD & Iris Graphics Drivers Version 21.20.16.4526 WHQL for the iGPU instead of generic drivers.

Here is another one: Installing Windows 8.1 and running benchmarks on Kaby Lake i7-7700k

According to this guy: "Kaby Lake works perfectly fine on Windows 8.1"

That's why I think TomsHardware should give Kaby Lake and Windows 7 / 8.1 another try.

you can run windows 7 with i7-7700 however i am having trouble using the 630 graphics gpu on its own. intel drivers will not load. win drivers work fine however its useless to use on its own

Hi guys,
I just wanna let you know that despite the message that windows is showing about this incompatibility, i am using 7700k without any issues on windows 7 64-bit.
