What should we know before buying an ssd

Solution
Read and write are important (read more so for faster performance) as you want to get the most bang for your buck. If you Google SSD benchmarks there are sites that compare each one.
If you are talking about SATA SSD then you should know that if the motherboard is SATA II then your SSD will be limited to SATA II speeds, around 250 MB/s read. SATA III will get you around 500 MB/s read with the right drive. Brand is also important for reliability. Lots of people like Samsung, including me. But there are others that are good too. But you cannot go wrong with a Samsung EVO.
