We moved 7 months ago and was told before we moved early last year we could get dsl from att. Now I've been arguing with them, but with no luck they say the ports are full. I hear they are closing ports and waiting to install uverse. But it could take years for them to upgrade our small town. And since I live outside of town maybe 1000 yards I could never get it. And all my neighbors have dsl up and down the road. Anyways I was thinking and talking to the tech guy at my wife's family business. He was saying they just got fiber installed and the have 150mb up and 150 down. That we could install towers and do a point to point to get me internet. Is this fast ? Me and the kids play games online like battlefield and cod, I also have a gaming computer I play. Will it have a delay time ? And what would I use ? The business is prob 1/8 mile as a crow flys.

Both ubiquiti and engenius sell equipment to do this. If you want to spend big money ubiquiti has systems that they claim will run at 1gigbit.

Now if you can actually put up towers on both ends so you get clear line of sight it should work really well at 1/8 mile. Many of these systems are designed to go much farther than that.

The key is you must have no obstructions and you must be a distance above any obstruction. This is called fresnil distance. It should not be a issue when you are talking 1/8 mile but there are calculators that will tell you the actual numbers. I suspect even 30ft towers on both ends should get you excellent results if you have more or less flat clear land between.
