Case had plastic sheet covering on inside side panel which I removed. Is it ok?

I built a computer a while ago with a Antec Sonata Series SOLO II Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case.

The side panel had a sheet of plastic covering the interior of it. When I built it, the ends were slightly coming off (the sheet is glued to the metal panel) so I used some black electrical tape. I just opened the computer to clean it out and all the tape came off and the plastic sheet was coming off further.

So I just completely pulled off and removed the plastic sheet. It was just stuck on with glue. Every case I've ever used just had the bare metal on the interior. The glue is very thin slightly sticky but doesn't look like it will drip off or anything.

I'm not sure why this piece of plastic was even in there? Anyone one know why it is there and if there is any problem with me having removed it?

Thanks.

Thank you although it didn't seem like it was supposed to be removed because I had a hard time pulling it off the glue. And why would just one panel (and the inside not the outside) have a plastic cover glued to it? The back side panel didn't have anything on it (I don't think). Since it wasn't just tape, it was completely glued it seemed like it was meant to stay.

But thank you.
