Hi, I was trying to overclock my fx-6300 with amd overdrive, but even the smallest oc causes the screen to start flickering and then the session closes and I have no other choice than restart. No matter what voltage I use, it always happens the same.
The processor has about 3 years of use without oc, also it has a cooler master hyper 212 instead of stock fan.
The cpu was never over 45°

My motherboard is an ASUS M5A78L-M LX3 and os windows 10

I recorded a video doing a 0.5x oc...
Also it's interesting because if I leave turbo core on it goes to 1.4v and 4100 without any trouble

So, any clue about what's happening ?

Solution
1) I am going to say this ; bad idea to OC on that motherboard.
Low power phase, no heatsink on VRM's, bad idea.
2) Never use AMD overdrive, it cranks the voltage way up, you really shouldn't be OCing on that board in general, but BIOS OCing is the right way to do it.

ow, I bought a "combo" when I had no idea about hardware, I will leave it then, it's ok with my r9 270x vapor for gaming ?

I plan to upgrade but hardware is really expensive in my country, what would be the best upgrade without going to ddr4 ?

Maybe, hopefully... when AMD drops Zen, if Zen itself is good, you should go to DDR4 anyway but skylake might drop in price, AMD is usually good for the price, and if they provide competition, kaby might fall a bit too.

If you absolutely cannot go DDR4, then get a haswell board and maybe an i5, unlocked + z series board would be cool but it doesn't have to be.

On a 60 Hz monitor, not really unless you're playing, like, GTA 5
If you're really craving max FPS, an i5 unlocked and oc'd on a good board would be amazing vs the FX. My i3 7350k and Z170MX Gaming 5 combo is crazy good running pretty darn fast (I can go over 5, but for voltage sake I toned it down to 4.8)
