I recently bought an ssd an I want to put my OS on it, i have a program and everything for it, but I don't trust an ssd with lasting that long so I want to have the os on both, but just boot from the ssd, will that work?

Solution

1. Current consumer grade SSD's will last longer than your current HDD.
2. Having the OS on both is absolutely not required. 10 minutes after you start using the OS on the SSD, the OS on the HDD is outdated.
Just create a drive image, or series of drive images, on the HDD.
In the very rare case of the SSD dying, just recover from one of those images.

Macrium Reflect does this image creation automatically, on whatever schedule you set.
