Is it really a big deal between the 2 brands, I only ask based on this is my first pc build and want to do it right so it will be up to date for a few years at least. I was planning on going amd fx 8350 then a friend said dont waste your money and go intel I-5 6600k as it is better but Im I really gonna notice if im playing cod or bf1 or say watch dogs? Is that not what a good graphics card it for? Ready to learn and figure this our lol

I wouldn't say the FX processors are a waste of money, but for the gamer an i5 is a better choice right now.
AMD has a new processor coming out in a couple of months that will be an i7 competitor (allegedly for an i5-like price), so may be worth considering depending on your timeline.

If it is going to be a tax-refund time build you might want to check again once you get your check to see if AMD's new line is out... Nothing is official yet but the main thing between AMD & Intel right now is the fact that the AMD Fx series is so old.... Maybe the new line from AMD will blow Intel out of the water but who knows?
