So, this may be a bit wierd, but this will be the 3rd thread on basically the same topic.
My problem here is that the CPU and motherboard I bought (CPU: AMD Athlon x4 860k, MB: Asrock fma78 pro 4+)
aren't compatible.
PC part picker can explain better: Some AMD A78 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaveri CPUs
So I basically need an older CPU that is compatible with the motherboard I have, and then update the Mb's BIOS to use the Athlon x4 860k.
And I found an AMD A4-5300 APU.
I heard that the motherboard chipset (A78) is compatible with trinity cpu's and the A4-5300 is trinity.
Of course, I'm not a total noob and I know the sockets are compatible.the Athlon 860k is fm2+ so is the mb and the 5300 is just fm2 but still compatible with fm2+ motherboards.
So if I buy the A4-5300 can I update the BIOS and how hard could it be? Do I need anything else to do that?
Any tips or links to a tutorial will be highely appreciated.
Thanks for reading and helping!
Have a nice day.
