Hey Guys, I had replaced my motherboard(Gigabyte H61M - S2P) around 3 months ago with Gigabyte H61M - S. Since i had tons of important files, I didn't want to format my hard drive. The computer booted up normally when the new motherboard(H61M - S) was installed and no issues came out. So i continued to do my work and play games, however there was a massive fps drop whenever i played demanding games. I hadn't experienced this issue before when i had the original motherboard. After experiencing the fps drop for 1 month, i booted the computer one day. While booting, the monitor gave a black screen and the computer became non - responsive. I somehow managed to trace down the problem to the graphics driver and changed it(while being on safe mode, since booting on safe mood seemed to work) to the only available driver present at that moment, Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. After that the computer booted fine with no black screen. But whenever i try to update my microsoft basic display driver to the Graphics driver for my graphics card, my screen becomes black and my computer after a few minutes becomes non responsive. To prevent this issue I need to switch back to the Microsoft basic display adapter in safe mode. I have speccy installed on my PC, and after going through it, I found that my graphics card isn't recognised by it. Instead it shows ATI Microsoft Basic Display Adapter (Sapphire/PC Partner) under the graphics section. I have no idea on how to approach this problem. Please give a solution to this problem.
My system specs are :
1.Intel i7 2600 @ 3.4Ghz
2.Operating System - Windows 8.1 64Bit
3.Ram - Transcend 12 GB(Transcend 8GB + Transcend 4GB)
4.Motherboard - Gigabyte H61M S
5. HDD - 1TB Seagate + 500GB Seagate
6.PSU - Antec 650 W
7.Graphics Card - Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 270X OC 4GB edition
P.S - Will it be possible to not format the hard drives? Since I have a lot of important data in it. Please do tell me about it.
Also if i try to update microsoft display adapter to intel graphics HD, a window pops up after a few seconds of installation stating that the driver is not compatible with my version of windows even when i download it for windows 8.1 64bit. I have tried several manual methods(including the have disk method) to update(since automatic update doesn't update the microsoft basic display adapter) but have got no result.

Yes I have, and I still get a black screen and after a few minutes my computer stops responding. I then have to boot into safe mode and switch to Microsoft basic display adapter driver to prevent the black screen problem

Since you changed your motherboard(H61M-S2P to H61M-S), you may need to re-install the motherboard drivers from the disk that came with the new motherboard. There may be just enough difference between the two to mess up the graphics.

I have tried installing the drivers from the disk, however i keep encountering an error while installing the INF update utility(I think it is a chipset driver). The error that comes up states that "file copying was not successful setup will exit". Also while installing the Intel Rapid Storage Technology, an error comes up stating "the platform is not supported".

Yes I am aware of that, but my hard drives aren't that old (2-3 years old) so i didn't consider to back them up. Can i fix this problem without formatting my hard drive?
