I recently upgraded my FX 6300 for an i5 4690k expecting pretty decent frame increases acorss the board for most games. I have had a GTX 970 for a year and a half and I am aware of the bottlenecking that would have occurred from the 6300, but I suspect this has had a long term impact on the card's performance as a whole.
Before the upgrade, the fps I got in CSGO for example were anywhere between 60-100 on the better performance maps such as Dust II. The fps I get now is pretty much the same. I have had this issue with Overwatch too, hovering around 80-90 frames before and after the upgrade. At times it even drops to as low as 40 which is painful.
How can I find out what the issue is? Is there any stress testing software I can use to see the problem?
I run games at 1080p, have 8GB of DDR3 RAM, I'm using two displays and I use Windows 10. Everything I have is currently at the base clock speed.
If anyone has any recommendations as to find the problem, I can add results when I get them. Thanks in advance.
