Hello,

I ordered a new headset yesterday and they arrived today. They are the Astro A40's, 2014 model without the MixAmp. I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit version, if that helps.

The headset is plugged into the green and pink jacks through the provided splitter. Audio is working fine, I have zero issues with it. The microphone, however, is problematic.

The microphone picks up output noise (e.g. music being played through the headset) very loudly, as if it's somehow another output channel. My voice does not get picked up, unless I shout very loudly at the top of my lungs, and even then it is very muffled and sometimes distorted or does not get picked up at all.

I have done some searching and have already tried the following things:

1) Mute/disable Stereo Mix in Sound settings.
2) Uninstall and reinstall drivers.
3) Tested the headset on another PC, the exact same issue persisted.
4) Tried the jack slots on the back of the PC, which gave the same issue.
5) Other headset and mic works fine.
6) Enabled Noise Suppression/Echo Cancellation.
7) Changed Realtek settings to "Seperate all input jacks as independent audio devices".
8) Disabled every other playback AND recording device in Sound settings.

Considering the problem persists on other PCs, could this simply be a DoA and should I return it? Or do you guys have any other solutions?

Many thanks!
