Hello,

I'm a graphics and design technologies student and I'm in the market for a new build. It's been several years since I researched my last build and I'm out of the loop, so I'm interested in what advice you might have to share with me. My nominal research has allowed me to have some idea of what I'm looking for, but would appreciate any insight that you can offer.

Advice about the CPU, motherboard, and RAM are particularly helpful at this time.

Build Goals
Budget
~$1250
Resolution
4K
Intended Work/Use
Primary: Extended use of Adobe Creative Suite, 3D modeling/rendering
Secondary: Gaming
Games / Settings Desired
WoW, HOTS, maybe ME: Andromeda. I presume a PC that has been optimized for graphic work will be able to handle these games at high-end settings.
Country
USA
Parts that can be reused
Chassis
Hard drives
RAM
PSU
Do you need an OS?
No.
Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)?
No.

Current Build
Chassis: Cooler Master Haf X
CPU: Intel i7-2600 3.4GHz
Mobo: ASUS P8Z68-V Pro/GEN3
PSU: Antec 1200W
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 580
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16gb (4x4gb) DDR3
Boot Drive: Samsung 128gb SSD
Storage Drive: Western Digital Black 1TB
OS: Windows 10 64-bit

Current Considerations
Chassis: Reuse the current chassis, may consider a suitable upgrade if I remain within budget.
CPU: i7-6700k or i7-7700k. (I've read there's only a marginal performance increase in the 7700k. Was previous considering the 6800k as well but I think I'm going to settle with the two listed unless a good case is made for it.)
Mobo: Undetermined.
PSU: Same as current build. (Have had no issue with the current PSU. May upgrade if I can remain in budget.)
GPU: nVidia Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB. (I've already acquired this one, found a good open-box sale on it and snagged it. ((EVGA was my first choice for any GPU)) Can still return it, but seems more than suitable for the work I intend to do with it.)
RAM: Undetermined.
Boot Drive: Same as current build (Only a few months old, I see no reason to replace it.)
Storage Drive: Same as current build (Older, but still performing well. Would sooner consider an external drive for backups than replacing this out right, or would do so if I'm doing well with budget. Low-priority, either way.)
OS: Windows 10 64-bit

I apologize if I've left anything out. Thank you for your time.

Estimable
I might say that your goal is way to high for that budget. It only reaches a mid tier PC gaming build and Graphics workstation are quite demanding.
I would actually suggest you to to sell your whole PC to purchase something a bit more interesting. The problem here is that the processor is quite old. Considering that your PC has very re-utilizable parts and your GPU basically sucks for rendering.
The recommended cards to actually work at 4k is PNY NVIDIA Quadro P6000 24GB wich costs nearly 4000 Dollars

The best i can do its:

And you have to re-use your Storage, PSU and chasis.

Note that an extremly serius and profesional build do costs nearly 6000-10000 dollars.

The GTX 1060 doesn't make the cut? Surprising.
