Can a B or G device within the range of my wireless N-only network cause interference?

My network keeps dropping and I'm trying to figure out if this could be a possible issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The same 2.4Ghz channels are used for B, G, and N. If there is a B, G, or N device on the same channel as you then you could get interference. WIFI has so many variables that it is very difficult to troubleshoot.

So setting my network up to be compatible with all the different devices that use that channel can help with interference then? It's been running clean for 2 days so I just wanted to see if this was not a placebo effect. It was dropping every hour.

No. If you have B (hopefully not) or G devices, then you have to set your router to compatibility mode. If you don't have any of those devices that you want to connect then using N only mode is most efficient.

What I meant, was if another neighbor had an active B device and WIFI source on the same channel as yours, then the two WIFI sources could interfere.
