Are UEFI updates necessary?

I recently purchased a new build.
ASUS H110M-K with a G4400 CPU and 8GB Corsair RAM.
Went to the UEFI and saw that I got the version 2003 and I went to ASUS' website to download the newest version (which is 3016) and then flashed them.
Patch notes read "Improved system stability" but I don't notice it at all.
What's the point of updating the UEFI?

Solution
Microcode updates (i.e. bug fixes) for the CPU.
Support for new CPU models.
System stability issues.
Addition of new feature (e.g. addition of NVMe support when new SSDs with that feature were released).

The motherboard manufacturers recommend NOT updating unless you're having issues.
The exception would be if a UEFI update provides new capability that you want or need, such as the Z/H 170 boards which will be able to run the new Kaby Lake CPUs if they have an updated BIOS/UEFI for that purpose.
