Hello,

I just ordered an Asus Z270 E Gaming motherboard, Intel 7700K processor and Samsung 950 Pro m.2 ssd. I'm wanting to find out what memory would work best with this system. I was looking at possibly purchasing 16gbx2 of Corsair Dominator Platinum 3200. I want to make sure i get the correct speed and quality for my build. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

When you choose OC ram your taking a risk and it depends on the CPUs IMC if or not they will play fair.
With Bios experience and knowing how to modify Timings you can very often get them to work but no guarantee. You want 32GB at 3200MHz which is a lot to ask of the IMC however OC RAM seems to work well with your CPU.
There is not a great deal of difference using OC RAM when gaming. If you wish to go down this path then make sure you can return the RAM kit if they fail.

For most games, ram speed is irrelevant as it's far faster than needed by the cpu. For some games, there is a marked difference in usage, some games showing upto 10fps difference. These are usually very high cpu usage games, but unless you have resolutions and settings enough to drag the gpu down, you'll be running well over the monitors refresh rate, so maximum fps tends to be a moot point.
High speed ram really makes a difference in production software, rendering etc, especially when ram is limited in size. But not having 2x pc's to battle, most ppl won't realize the difference between a render taking 60 minutes and the exact same render with faster ram taking 50 minutes.

The Dominators suggested by SR -71 are known to be excellent ram, very good overclockers and have the added gimmick of the leds. Which can set off a build nicely. But they are pretty much equitable to g-skill Trident Z and a few others in actual quality.

Many of the builds you see with lower speed ram are usually on a budget, where quality ram is sacrificed for the extra $10 towards a bigger gpu.

You'll have to take aesthetics, price, quality, availability etc into consideration, its not really worth it to get cheaper red colored ram in a blue/white build just to satisfy ego over having 3200 ram vrs blue 2666 that costs $4 more.
