Hi, I just finished putting together my new PC:

MBD: Gigabyte GA-z170x-Gaming 7

CPU: Intel i7-7700k

RAM: G.Skill TridentZ DDR4-3000 CL-15-15-15-35 16Gx2 Intel XMP 2.0 Ready

GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 Founders Edition

PSU: FSP Berserker 500W ATX12V/EPS12V 80 Plus Bronze (I have a Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB 750W Continuous Power ATX12V v2.4 / EPS v2.92 80 Plus Bronze Certified Full Modular Power Supply pre-ordered)

SSD: Samsung 850 Evo

HDD: WD Blue 1.0TB and Seagate Constellation ES 2.0 TB

Case: Thermaltake Level 10 GT

The first time I booted my PC it threw error code 55, so I took out one of my ram sticks and graphics card and booted again. This time it threw code 62; my manual says that error code 62 is "Installation of PCH runtime services" so I did some research and put my graphics card back into two different slots on my motherboard and my motherboard continues to throw error code 62. I used my graphics card for over a year in my last build, along with my PSU and hard drives, so I know that they were working yesterday, and I really hope that they still do. The screen is black and is not detecting a signal so I can't do anything software wise.

I'm stumped, can anyone help me?

You have to flash it, but you have to get it to the bios first, go talk to your local pc store they will have a test setup they can put it in and test it on. At this point there isn't much you can do at home unfortunately.

Remove your graphics card and boot through on board graphics, if it works then try your graphics card in different slots, if that doesnt work then retest the GPU in another computer.

I tried this, and even reset CMOS; still no image and throwing code 62. During boot it pauses at 32, 40, 62, then 72, and then stops at 62 and stays there. The provided speaker does not produce any sound throughout this process.

This is a good checklist for new builders, but I did all these twice and wore a wristband grounding cable the whole time.

Installation of the PCH runtime services is an error with the GPU in most cases or the PCI slots, since you have tried to boot through on board graphics i would suggest the mobo itself is faulty, so i would recommend taking it to your local computer store and having them check it. Or contacting the manufacturer of the board and asking them as they may be able to shed further light on the issue

I didn't even think to check for this, but it's not. I still need to be able to get to post first though, unless if there is some other way to update BIOS.

I am literally having this exact same issue with almost the exact samge build. I have tried booting without a card and everything. Still getting the same code. Also the processor is fully supported. I have a new one on the way to see if that fixes it.

By almost the same, what differs? Is hard to say without knowing which exact board and CPU. May be a better idea to make your own thread.

The only difference in my build and this one is my ram and power supply. I am using Corsair ram and an 850 gold PSU. Other than that the motherboard, processor, and even the graphics cards are the same

Basically you need a supported Skylake CPU to update the BIOS to a version that supports Kaby Lake CPU's. You could try putting the Kaby chip in, attach a USB with the BIOS file on and pressing the <end> button during POST to see if you can enter Q-Flash but if it doesnt give you a display then obviously you wont be able to see the BIOS Flash screen.

That's great information I didn't think about the fact that the motherboard may have an older BIOS on it and can't work right with the new 7700. I just ordered a cheap Skylake processor that will be here tomorrow. Hopefully it will let me update the BIOS!

I did a little more research as Gigabyte has been slow to get back to me... Ugh. I found this question to be quite helpful.

Hi, I just got the same situation. I got code 55, change the ram to 2133 Mhz and now got the error 62 . Did you success to boot into the bios using the skylake cpu?

Before I ordered a new CPU, I contacted Gigabyte eSupport again, and (after 5 days of waiting) I received a response; they informed me that they now cover this issue under warranty and you can send it to them, they'll flash it for you, and then send it back! Problem solved, very happy to finally use this beast.
