Hey guys just a quick question,

I'm running an i5-4690k @ 4.3GHz, just want to know about the temps, I'm getting 77 degrees Celsius for max package temperature in intel extreme tuning utility at 100% load in a stress test with all cores active, I idle at around 28-35 degrees Celcius with this overclock and my average under 100% load is 62 degrees Celcius, now my question is, are these temps ok for gaming on an i5-4690k for quite long periods of time? or should I downclock it back to like 4GHz-4.2GHz, what's the max temp and average temp I should be looking for with an i5 4690k?

P.S. Using a cooler master hyper 212 evo

Well, you already use 212, so there not much improvement using more expensive cooling system can be gain. Like other has said, it is still within its safe temperature. But I would suggest to clock it back that will only limit the temperature to 70c. This way you will ensure to prolonged the life of your cpu. In my own opinion (not the scientific truth), cpu above 70c will shorten the thermal paste life which in a way will need faster...

EDIT: Workloads on this CPU will consist of rendering for school projects in adobe premiere pro, but not very often and quite a lot of high end gaming on ultra settings, also just light internet browsing

Ok awesome, I'm not so much worried about safe temps either, just mainly wondering if it'll wear down over time faster if the temps are higher

Then again its just my personal limited opinion.

Just did another stress test and temps hit a max of 72 and an average of 61, I think I've answered my own question in that as long as you're comfortable with your temps and not getting thermal shutdowns you're good, still tempted to throw some cash away for a corsair h100i though, then I could run like 4.8GHz, but yeah like you said it's kind of just how comfortable you are with temps and maxing out at 77 on a warm day is honestly fine for me
