Hi all.

I'm having an issue of some sort when accessing my HDD.

The system I have is:

APU: AMD A10-7890K
MOBO: Asus A88XM-PLUS
RAM: 2X4GB DDR3 2400MHz HyperX Savage
GPU: Sapphire RX 470 4GB Reference
SSD: AMD Radeon R3 240GB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB (Seagate ST1000DM003-1CH162)
PSU: EVGA 600W 80+ Bronze

The issue is that when try to access it it freezes the windows cursor for 1-2 sec and then comes back and HDD opens (there is a sound coming from the HDD in this moment like it's being powered on or starts to spin).

Since my system, programs and some games are on SSD I access HDD (bulk storage) only when I need some data from it of to copy something on it which is not so often. This "issue" happens only when I try to access HDD after certain longer period of time. After the freezing happens I use HDD normally.

Here are some screenshots of HD Sentinel data on my Seagate HDD:

Could it be that HDD is in some sort of delayed sleep or hibernation or it is about to die?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx

Hi D_Know_WD :)

While waiting for answers here I checked Hi-performance power mode for settings and found that HDD had that 20min sleep time.
So far it doesn't freeze... :D
I know this setting and always tend to check it but for some reason, when installed fresh copy of Win 10 recently, I forgot to set it to NEVER...

Sory for being dumb and ignorant and wasting your time :D

I will check out NoSleepHDD software for sure .

Thanks a lot again :)

Cheers

HDD looks ok indeed. Nevertheless I upload most crucial data to MEGA cloud just in case ;)

Cheers
