Hey guys, I have in plan to build a second pc, a Lanbox to be presise for cheap cheap. And I have 2 xeon builds in plan. One with E5-2670 and with X5650. I run some checks in the past and I saw that weirdly X5650 that is 8 years old and costs 50 euros here performed almost identical if not better in some games than my 5820k. Now here is the problem it is hard to find LGA1366 motherboard for x5650 and E5-2670 uses LGA2011 which is more common and easier to get, but every build that featured E5-2670 has 2 of them in. Now my question is can E5-2670 work alone without another E5-2670?

Solution
Yes, the 2670 can work by itself, but you're going to have a hard time finding an LGA 2011 motherboard for a decent price. You'll have to get the non v3 version, anything with an x99 chipset will not work with that processor.
