I recently bought a used asus maximus formula x38,with a intel c2q q9550,and a giant cooler master gemini (not sure what exact version of the gemini) and i have a 500w power supply that i got with my old pc (no idea what brand it is + it was bought in a pc store),4x1 ddr2 kingston hyper x ram,and i have that set up with an Radeon R7 240.I have a 4 pin connector connected to that 8pin cpu power supply and i overclocked it to 3.2GHz without problems,i was wondering could i overclock it to 3.4Ghz with no harm on any of the components? And btw. what graphics card could i fit in a budget of 130euros with that? Thanks in advance :D

Well, I've seen people using FX-8350s with a 4-pin cable, so it *could* be fine, but I wouldn't recommend doing that, bnecause the 4-pin connector is rated at 95W, though it could deliver 150-160 if properly implemented and the PSU is using good quality cables and connectors.

So it depends really, but you wouldn't really benefit from that +200Mhz anyway.

I overclocked it to 3.4 which is the max and it seems to be running fine except the psu is just a tiny tiny bit hotter on touch. But ill probably go back to 3.2 as u said it doesnt make almost any difference,so i wont risk frying the cables and other stuff :)
