Before I begin I am an amateur when it comes to computers and i know the very basics.

My PC specs right now:

CPU: Intel core 2 duo e6400 2.13 Ghz

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5450 2gb

RAM: (2x2gb) 4GB

OS: Windows 7

My plan to upgrade:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 Quad-Core Processor, 2.66 GHz, 8M L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB, LGA775

GPU: no change (but if you know a better one that can fit in a sff tell me)

RAM: (4x2gb) 8GB

OS: no change

I am 17 and only have about $100 to spend for an upgrade. Some people said that buying used hardware is ok for like cpu and ram. I'll prob by used CPU. Please leave any suggestions and tell me if my upgrade will allow me to play games such as Subnautica. Thank you

Also i do not mind playing at low setting.

so that dell motherboard has the Chipset: Intel Q35 Express Chipset w/ICH9DO which means according to my cross chart on that chipset is capable of supporting Q series Duo Core 2 Quad but NOT the QX (duo core 2 Extreme) series CPUs so your looking at Q6600 to Q9650.

Q series 6600 duo core 2 would be relatively cheap on eBay I see going a quick search prices being about 10-20$ easily found.
and with some luck you could find a used HD 7750 1GB for ~ 50-60$, so you could do both upgrades and give some new life into your pc
okay so budget is 100$... got it.
do you know what make/model your motherboard is ? for 100$ if the board supports it you could get a Core™2 Extreme Processor QX9650 (12M Cache, 3.00 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB used on Ebay of course

currently the requirements for Subnautica are :
OS: Windows Vista SP2 or newer, 64-bit.
Processor: Intel Haswell 2 cores / 4 threads @ 2.5Ghz or equivalent.
Memory: 4 GB RAM.
Graphics: Intel HD 4600 or equivalent.
Hard Drive: 6 GB available space.

so you could with a CPU run it, not sure you will get full graphics but yes.
