hi all,i want to know about the wifi hardware/card installed in my laptop. I installed two different drive for wifi, accordingly there name changed in the device manager window. These names are-,intel centrino wireless n-1000 and intel wifi link 1000.

Laptop has a new motherboard(details-RESERVED).I am not sure about the manufacturer and details of wifi hardware. So,unable to install the right driver software. Can you tell me, how to know about the model/manufacturer of wifi hardware(card)?

Is it a direct replacement for the motherboard you originally had? If so, the Sony driver page would have the most appropriate driver.

Failing that, look in device manager under properties and there should be a string of characters that'll give us a better idea of the card installed.

FWIW, if you're on W10, you might have problems regardless - most (all?) of the Vaio's are not compatible with W10 (as per Sony). I've had no end of problems with a VAIO for my gf's uncle - the last of them is keyboard/touchpad failing to work.

It was not a direct replacement. The driver at the sony support website isn't working because the PC details are showing to be 'RESERVED'.
I installed two different drivers
-intel 13(intel wifi link 1000)
-intel 15(centrino wireless n-1000)

accordingly the adapter details changed in the properties window. I am confused about the hardware(and which software to run :( )
