Hello,I was looking for a graphics card to buy when I saw a Stockhouse section on my local computer parts store website,

they have a Gigabyte GTX 980 ti

when I went there the owner of the shop showed me the card and there was no box at all, just plain card in its ''machine sealed'' antistatic bag (not the classic folded bag and sticker style) he told me that the card had some issues(didnt work) so was sent for RMA and that this is a ''new'' card sent back to him without the original box.He couldnt sell it as new thus it ended in stockhouse

the shop owner provides 3 years of warranty(like any other new card)

I have no experience with RMA/Refurbishes/Open boxes etc

1.Is it possible for gigabyte to send a NEW card with RMA or they just repair the same?
2.If new, does it come in a machine sealed antistatic bag/classic folded bag with seal sticker or is this some kind of scam?

ty in advance for your help

Are you talking about the manufacturer's RMA? Or the store's warranty now?

A manufacturer will either repair or replace - and in the event the card they're replacing is no longer available, they'll usually upgrade you to a newer model GPU.

The store's warranty will vary. Might be repair, might be replacement, might be money back (although the money back part is unlikely).

1. It's possible, but more than likely it was a repair.

2. New would come in the retail box, anything other than that is likely a repair (as the original 'owner' has the box).

If the store owner is providing a 3 year warranty (repair & replacement? or just repair?), and they're a reliable long-time store, I wouldn't have any issues with that.

So I guess they send a new one if the faulty one is unrepairable

Is there a chance to return money to the buyer?
